Attorney Chris Codling won a $170,779 settlement from State Farm insurance on behalf of his clients after a sinkhole opened up on their property. The homeowners had noticed significant cracks on and around their house and contacted their insurance company. Despite documented sinkhole activity by an engineering firm, State Farm denied their claim. Eight months later, a 6-foot deep sinkhole opened up between their home and a neighbor’s. A lawsuit was filed in Hillsborough county and within weeks Codling’s litigation of the case resulted in State Farm’s decision to a full tender of the homeowner’s policy.
