TAMPA, Fla., May 14, 2018 – Givens Givens Sparks’ $30 million jury verdict in a pedestrian injury case was the highest value verdict awarded in the state of Florida for a brain injury in 2017 and was the fourth highest verdict for personal injury cases overall in the state. Additionally, the case award was the 62nd highest verdict awarded in the country in 2017 across all legal categories.
A Tampa Jury awarded the verdict to Stephanie Ming, represented by lawyers Robert Sparks and Christopher Codling, who was walking on the side of the road in 2011 when she was hit by a car and suffered serious and permanent brain damage.
The day before the trial began in Hillsborough County, the defendant (Gerelco Traffic Controls, Inc.),
“ultimately accepted fault for the incident but continued to deny the victim had suffered any permanent injuries. Five days later and after hearing testimony and reviewing evidence brought to light by Codling and Sparks, a six-person jury awarded Ms. Ming a $30 million verdict for injuries and damages sustained, including past and future medical expenses, past and future pain and suffering, as well as the impact on her past and future quality of life.”
