TAMPA, Fla., April 20, 2016 – Robert Sparks Attorneys is proud to announce that attorney Victoria Cruz-Garcia has been named a 2016 ‘Leader in the Law’ by the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL).
A principal attorney at Robert Sparks Attorneys, Cruz-Garcia was chosen to receive the FAWL award because of her continuing commitment to the legal profession, her community and peers, and to the Florida organization, whose mission is to actively promote gender equality and the leadership roles of its members in the legal profession, judiciary and community at large.
Cruz-Garcia was nominated by the FAWL Hillsborough Chapter for “[having earned] the respect of others professionally, been involved in activities for the betterment of the local community, exemplified the qualities of a positive role model and advanced the cause of women in the community,” said FAWL Kristin Norse in an announcement letter.
Cruz-Garcia represents clients in all facets of family law matters including divorce, child custody, alimony and support actions, as well as enforcement matters. A Stetson College of Law graduate and Rutgers University undergrad, she was awarded the 2015 ‘Luis Cabassa Award’ by the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association (THBA) for her commitment to law, professionalism and the community. She was also named to the Rising Stars℠ list by "Super Lawyers®" in 2012, 2013 and 2014, and was awarded the Tampa Hispanic Heritage Trailblazer Award in Education in 2014, and the WMU Cooley Law School ‘Great Deeds’ award in 2013.
Cruz-Garcia is currently an adjunct professor at WMU Cooley Law School where she teaches courses on ‘Family Violence and Florida Juvenile Dependency and Delinquency.’ She is also the co-chair of the Hillsborough County Bar Association Diversity Committee and was appointed to the Florida Bar Association Special Committee to Study Unethical and Illegal Solicitation of Legal Business.
