Safety is one of the most important things to think of when making any sort of automobile related purchase.
Earlier this month, I've blogged both about receiving a free infant car seat when my child was born, and NHTSA's car safety ratings. This post is about a combination of the two things: NHTSA's child seat ratings. NHTSA performs an evaluation of many current infant and child seats, and provides a 1 to 5 star rating for each. At their website, you can find specifics on what type of harness is used, what weight and height limits are on each seat, how good the labels and instructions are for each seat, how easy it is to secure the child, and install the seat in your vehicle, and an overall ease of use rating.
As I stated in the earlier post about NHTSA's car safety ratings, these unbiased ratings can be very helpful for the parent who is looking for the seat that will help a child avoid injury if they are involved in a car or truck accident.
