Sunday morning brought reports of three horrendous car accidents that occurred on Saturday night. One crash on Interstate 275 took the lives of five people, when an SUV drove the wrong way on the interstate and ran into a car with four USF students. All of the deceased in this accident are reported to have been wearing their seatbelts. There has not been any confirmation yet regarding whether or not alcohol or drugs were involved in this crash. The car that was travelling in the correct direction of traffic contained four fraternity brothers from USF.
Another crash occurred on Dale Mabry near Fletcher Avenue. In that crash, the operator of a motorcycle was speeding in the center lane when he hit another car, then crashed into a wall and a tree. The motorcycle operator was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Last, two people were killed in a one car accident on Bloomingdale Avenue when their speeding car struck a power pole, and the car split into two pieces. It is unclear whether the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts, or whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
