Car accidents in NASCAR racing are part of nearly every race. It is certainly reasonable that fans attending live races will see a crash at some point in time. The movie, "Days of Thunder", about stock car racing, even contains the line, "rubbin' is racin'", referring to bumping between cars in NASCAR races. Even though accidents are part of the allure of stock car racing, fans do not expect to get hit by flying pieces of automobiles while attending a race. That is exactly what happened at this year's Nationwide event at Daytona International Speedway when Kyle Larson's car went airborne and crashed into the fence. The speedway is adding additional cables at crossover gates, and supplemental tethers between the gate frame and support posts.
