According to a report on www.tampabay.com, Citizens Property Insurance Corporation hired three forensic professionals to form a team of internal investigators. You may recall that last year, Citizens disbanded its Office of Corporate Integrity after reports from the Miami Herald and Tampa Bay Times revealed the internal investigators had uncovered a great deal of mismanagment at the state's "insurer of last resort".
Governor Rick Scott appointed his own Inspector General after Citizens fired all of their Office of Corporate Integrity, and the Inspector General's report is expected to be released soon. Governor Scott was so disappointed in the actions of the Citizens' executives that he's asked them to return the raises they authorized for themselves last year.
This type of malfeasance at Citizens should upset all Florida taxpayers, not just the Citizens clients who are already fed up with Citizens handling of reinspections, sinkhole, fire, and flood claims.
