Another sinkhole has Florida residents on the edge. The newest sinkhole is near Winter Park, Florida, outside of Orlando. The hole is 40-50 feet wide and 30 feet deep, and the homeowner's pool has emptied because of the sinkhole, and homeowners have voluntarily evacuated. Apparently, there was construction in the area, and some of the heavy equipment that was located on site is owned by a sinkhole company.
This most recent case is a good reminder to review your insurance policy, make sure it is in a safe location, and to check for any possible signs of sinkhole activity at your home, such as ground depressions, cracks in walls, floors and ceilings, or doors and windows that won't open properly.
