What is a Parenting Coordinator?

A parenting coordinator is a person appointed by the family law Court who is trained to assist separated and divorced parents in co-parenting issues regarding decision-making, communication, custody and timesharing with children. Typically, a parenting coordinator is a licensed mental health professional or has received training in assisting with co-parenting issues. Use of a parenting coordinator can be of great use in a high conflict case to assist in reducing the adversarial positions of parents that can sometimes be an unfortunate by-product of the legal process.
