A recent WZVN story reported a new sinkhole in an otherwise uncommon location. When most Floridians think of sinkholes, they think of Pasco, Hernando, and increasingly, Hillsborough county. However, those of us who are involved with sinkholes on a daily basis know that sinkholes have opened in a number of new locations. This recent sinkhole opened near a seawall and restaurant on Fort Myers Beach. The damage in this case includes replacing the void under the sidewalk. Luckily, this sinkhole was found before anyone was injured.
